Dan Spainhour's Game Changing Weekly Journal

The following is an excerpt from an article from Dan Spainhour's latest venture--Game Changing: Changing The Way You Look At Things So The Things You Look At Will Change.

Watch For Those Who Want To Keep You "Small"

Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great. – Mark Twain

To get past ordinary you need people in your life that are real supporters and not those who only support their own agenda. So many times, people want to keep the people around them small because of the fear of losing them. Often these are the people closest to them--spouses, parents, and friends. Those who we love and those who profess their love for us.

Everyone comes at the world from their own viewpoint--even those most well-intended, those who “love” us. And from these points of view, they see us playing the role they want us to play in their movie.

About Game Changing:

Magnificent Mondays

There is a new journal entry every Monday. I ask readers to understand that there's no one way to write. I don’t plan to follow the same approach every week, but I do plan to enjoy the process and the journey.

You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.

Thought-filled Thursdays:

Every Thursday subscribers receive additional quotes, images, videos, and inspiration to further help you change the way you look at things.  Also, there will be a Q&A section where questions and comments are answered.

Don't Take It Out On The Coach

The following is a recent entry to Dan Spainhour's substack, Game Changing: Changing The Way You Look at Things So The Things You Look at Will Change I can’t even remember where I first heard it, but it is something that stuck to me like glue and has been with me ever since. “Don’t take it out on the coach!” So simple yet so profound. This simple saying has been my motto for life since my early days of coaching. You see, at the end of the day you will exit this world the same way you came in it—by yourself. Therefore, it is so important to take care of yourself and not allow others to live inside your head. When I first started coaching, I wanted to control everyone and everything. Along about my third year as a head coach, one of my players was arrested for stealing a car. I was immediately placed in a no-win situation. The player was a promising college prospect. These were the days before so much emphasis was placed on summer travel teams and how a prospect performed during thei
