Meet Kim Record, A Coaching & Leadership Journal Subscriber

Kim Record and Larry Brown  Kim Record is in her 10th year as the Director of Athletics at UNC-Greensboro. Record was named to the post Sept. 27, 2009 and leads a program that fields men’s and women’s teams in 17 sports, over 250 student-athletes and 70 employees. She was honored as one of 28 Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year award recipients at the 2014 NACDA Convention in Orlando in the NCAA Division I-AAA category and just recently was named Triad Business Journal’s 2019 Outstanding Women in Business Award for her leadership and the ways in which her contributions have left an indelible mark on the community. Since arriving at UNC-Greensboro, Record has reshaped and revamped the athletic department across the board. She implemented ‘The Spartan Way’ strategic plan in an effort to ensure the continued success and future improvement of Spartan Athletics. The following is one of many stories from our latest book, Leading Narratives:The perfect collection of stories, jokes and wits of wisdom for leaders The Painting Nuns Two nuns are ordered to paint a room that was under construction in the convent, and the last instruction of the Mother Superior is that they must not get even a drop of paint on their habits. After conferring about this for a while, the two nuns decide to lock the door of the room, strip off their habits, and paint in the nude. In the middle of the project, there comes a knock at the door. “Who is it?” calls out one of the nuns. “Blind man,” replies a male voice from the other side of the door. The two nuns look at each other, shrug, and deciding that no harm can come from letting a blind man into the room, they open the door. “Nice breasts, sister,” says the man, “Where do you want these blinds?” Moral of the Story? Always ask for clarity because words sometimes have double meanings.  Ab
